HLTAID014 PROVIDE ADVANCED FIRST AID

Advanced First Aid Course. To book this course, please scrol to the bottom page and select the venue of your choice to book in.This course is for anyone who may be required to provide advanced first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. It applies to all persons who may be required to provide advanced first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. This course allows you develop the skills on how to provide advanced first aid, first aid, CPR, basic emergency life support, manage a casualty and use a defibrillator until the arrival of medical or other assistance. Our advanced first aid course includes the content of provide first aid (HLTAID011), provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (HLTAID009) and provide basic emergency life support (HLTAID010).

Certification issued:

On successful completion of the course, students are awarded a statement of attainment in:

  • HLTAID014 - Provide Advanced First Aid
  • HLTAID011- Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID009 - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • HLTAID010 - Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

Statement of attainments are issued on the day of the course to learners found competent. (Same day certificate)

Entry Requirements:

Learners will be required to pass a basic language, literacy, numeracy and digital test before confirmation of enrolment or immediately prior to commencing the training. Learners must also be able to do CPR on the floor, including kneeling down and performing chest compressions.

Course Duration:

There are two options for the delivery of this unit.

  • Standard Option One: (Face to Face Only)

    • This takes one day (9 hours)
    • with bigger assessment to be completed on the day of the course
    • plus pre-reading sent to students prior to attendance. The theory
    • assessment is completed online in class face to face with the
    • trainer on the day of the training via either a tablet, laptop or
    • phone.
  • Standard Option Two : (Face to Face Only)

    • No online required.
    • This takes one day (9 hours) with bigger assessment to be completed on
    • the day of the course plus pre-reading sent to students prior to
    • attendance. The theory assessment is completed on the student
    • guide face to face with the trainer on the day of the training.

Same statement of attainment is gained from any of the two delivery options. This course is nationally accredited, recognised and workplace accepted.

Usual Venues for Training:

All our training is backed up with current teaching aids to ensure you receive the highest quality of training both theory and practical.

Contents include:
Bandages, Student guide, power point presentation, inhalers, Epipen, CPR manikins, updated and visual stimulating Power Point presentations, spinal board, tourniquet etc.
Legal aspects of first aid, victim assessment, checking respiration and circulation, resuscitation, shock, asthma, fainting, Anaphylaxis, cardiac and medical identification, choking, drowning, hyperventilation, traumatic injury, overexposure to heat & cold, workplace first aid incidents, bites and stings, poisoning, signs of life, aftercare, first aid triage, life threatening bleeding, taking vital signs, how to move casualties using extrication & immobilisation devices etc.
CPR/Resuscitation, Bandaging, slings and splints, using inhalers, Epipen/Anapen, Defibrillation, how to move casualties using extrication & immobilisation devices, using torniquets and haemostatic dressing etc.
Students will be issued with a nationally recognised statement of attainment in Provide Advanced First Aid HLTAID014 which is valid for 3 years and the CPR component is valid for 12 months.
